Mukteshwar

   Mukteshwar is a tourist destination in Nainital district of Uttarakhand state of India. It is 2286 meters (7500 feet approx) high from sea level.

Mukteshwar got it name from lord Shiva temple known as Mukteshwar dham, situated at the top of the city. It is previously known as "Muktesar" (mentioned in Jim Corbett's book "temple of tiger"). Chauli-ki-jali is used for rock climbing and rappelling. From there we can see the valley.

  Mukteshwar is rich in scenic beauty, with magnificent views of Himalayas from Nanda Devi Hills (India's second largest hills)


Temperature: Summer is warm with moderate rainfall and winter are cold with fog.
Climate: It has a sub topical highland climate.
Best time to visit: November to March

Transport: Nearest Airport is PantNagar and nearest railway station is Kathgodam at a distance of 65 kms  from the town,  where local transport is  easily available to reach other towns like Bhowali, Nainital and Ranikhet etc.
